Short on Space? Consider a Stackable Washer Dryer

Apartments, condo’s, and even cabins in the woods all have one thing in common… There’s no space! Unless you have a penthouse suite, it can be a challenge to find places to store things much less find a good spot for a large pair of side by side appliances. If your laundry room leaves little room to actually move around, you should consider a stackable washer dryer combo unit.

Your average washer and dryer sit side by side and take up at least 5 feet across. They are big and bulky but obviously necessary. Fortunately, your most needed appliances don’t have to consume all of your extra living space. Today’s stacked washer dryers are just as reliable and in some cases just as large as the old side by side variety. The only difference? They take up half the size across.

In a small room, those extra few feet can make all of the difference. Instead of stacking laundry on top of your appliances (or worse yet – in the corner of some room), you can create a nook to sort all of your clothes. Install a rack for detergent and all of the other “stuff” you use and your itty bitty utility room just became larger.

Cost wise there is little difference between buying a separate washer dryer and one that comes stacked together. Sometimes if you are a savvy shopper, you can even score a great deal on one of these units that is cheaper than purchasing the two separately. The same brands that you know and love make stackable alternatives, you just may have to look a little harder to find them. If you can’t find anything suitable at your local appliance store, the internet has plenty to offer with the extra benefit of being able to compare prices and read reviews on the spot.

Of course capacity can be an issue, especially if you are washing for more than just yourself. Luckily there are stackable washer dryer combos with similar size wash tubs as your traditional models. Be sure to check how large the capacity is before you buy as some are smaller than average (just not all).

After you trade in your side by sides for a one on top of the other, imagine how much cleaner and more functional your laundry room space can be. By comparing the brands and sizes available, you can get a great deal on a functional unit and reclaim your lost space for better use.
